Czechs are surprisingly athletic by nature. You only have to see how well Czech Tennis, Ice-hockey, Football, Skiing or Tennis does in world class events to feel that everybody must be doing something athletic most of the time. In reality it is difficult to reconcile this picture with that of hoards of full-bellied men with vast foaming glasses singing bawdy songs in the local pub at 7.30 in the morning. Perhaps they spend the evening jogging?
